An event fifteen years in the making, the United States Air Force Memorial Dedication Weekend celebrated the completion of a monument that honors the service and sacrifices of the men and women of the United States Air Force and its predecessor organizations. More than 54,000 airmen have died in combat while serving in the Air Force and until now, it has been the only branch of service that has not had any memorial in the Washington, D.C. area.
Our client worked directly with the Air Force Memorial Foundation and was responsible for producing the weekend’s events beginning with a VIP dinner for 300 people on Friday night; a VIP breakfast for 700 additional donors and corporate sponsors Saturday morning; the official dedication ceremony for 1500 guests with remarks by the Secretary of the Air Force, the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States; an Air Force Expo with over 40,000 visitors in the Pentagon south parking lot featuring a concert by country music star Lee Ann Womack; and, finally, a memorial service with 1000 people on Sunday.
The client needed a company large enough to handle all of the events occurring simultaneously over the course of the three days, one familiar with presidential protocol, and one that could capture every aspect of the event – from the big picture to the smallest details – in an unobtrusive manner. With so many different elements to capture, it took a carefully coordinated effort by a team of eight photographers throughout the weekend to achieve the client’s objectives.
This event was produced by The Webster Group for the Air Force Memorial Foundation.
